Gifting a custom table for an amazing patriot.

This table project has been 4 years in the making and I will design and build it similar to this trestle table I made 14 years ago.

I made this table for my patio in 2012 out of American Walnut and South American Chechen wood. It's 4 inches thick, 10 feet long and 4 feet wide. I bet it weighs 600 pounds!

I will use the same trestle design for Jeff's but will also design some kind of Marine marquetry to celebrate his efforts in the Gulf War.

We will see what design we end up with.

His table will be made from an American Elm tree he cut on his own property and milled into lumber onsite.

Once milled, we had to let it air dry for 4 years to ensure it dried to the appropriate moisture level for table making.

Even though the wood has cracked after drying, I can use colored epoxy to further enhance the elm figuring.
